Talk: The Rise of Diversification and Fall of Commodities -19.03.15

Posted: Apr, 6th 2015 Contributor: Bilen Shifferaw,

African countries are facing headwinds as the commodities fall has had a huge fiscal impact on current accounts. For decades, commodities markets have shaped Africa’s economic growth, but the slowing demand for minerals and falling oil prices mean that growth is increasingly coming from imaginative entrepreneurs who see the longer-term potential of industries such as renewable energy, fashion and textiles, farming and communications.

Africa’s future relies on the diversification of economies; this future will be impossible without the necessary additional diversification of our business and political leadership positions to include more women.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Africa 2.0 UK is hosting “Africa’s Turning Point- By The Women Who Are Shaping It“ to highlight the stories and experiences of the women who are leading the way in these industries and shaping the future of Africa.
