Soweto Strings, a film about the project directed by filmmaker Mark Kidel. This documentary tells the extraordinary and moving story of the South African music project, Buskaid. From its establishment in 1997 by British viola player Rosemary Nalden, the film follows Buskaid’s work over two years, as it succeeds in inspiring and transforming the lives of young musicians living in exceptionally difficult circumstances

Inspiring musicians celebrate South African anniversary, in what promises to be one of the feel-good concerts of the year, the talented youngsters of the Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble share the joy of music-making with a programme of classical repertoire, plus traditional South African ‘kwela’ and gospel songs.
