Get ready for the biggest African and Caribbean food tasting festival!

Some of London’s best African and Caribbean chefs and cooks are coming together to take part in the first annual African and Caribbean food tasting event this summer. The free festival will play host to over 14 national cuisines from around Africa and the Caribbean including Jamaica, Nigeria, Ghana and Barbados.

“This is a foodie’s paradise. We are creating a carnival of food for everyone to enjoy, whether they are young or old,” says Sundjata Keita, the co-ordinator of Brixton Summer Weekender.

TASTY AFRICA TASTY CARIBBEAN (TATC) somehow delicious food festival will also feature live music and culture from Africa and the Caribbean. Visitors can jump to the sounds of the steel pan and the djembe and get down with young rappers. The free show will end with a rare opportunity to see East African folk singers perform traditional songs.

Visit Brixton is organising TATC on behalf of social change organisation The Afrikan Family Works (TAFW). TAFW mission is to strengthen the African family through championing African culture and values.

On the day people can become members of the not-for-profit social enterprise the Afrikan Food Hall (AFH) for just £1. The aim of AFH is to bring high quality food at rock bottom prices to African families across the UK and to use the surpluses generated for good causes within the community.

Festival organisers are encouraging people to come in family groups and to bring their nation’s flags, whistles, drums and musical instruments to help create a carnival atmosphere.
