Seun Kuti & Egypt80 Live - 14.06.15

Posted: Jun, 4th 2015 Contributor: Bilen Shifferaw,

Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat founder and legend Fela Kuti, brings his father's sixteen piece funk fuelled orchestra, Egypt 80 and the spirit and beats of Africa to The Drum. Seun and Egypt 80's extraordinary power, fraught with the scorching rhythms and kinetic funk energy has earned the band, worldwide acclaim as one of today's most incendiary live acts.

'Music has great impact on people's feelings - Pop music today is all about me, me, me. Nobody is singing about we. But nothing can change if we don't look out for our brothers and sisters.' - Seun Kuti

With Kuti's booming firebrand vocal stylings at the forefront, strong breakneck tempos, punctuating potent political lyricism combined with an array of rich African costumes and choreographed dance sequences firmly sets the classic Egypt 80 sound and vision in the modern era. A powerhouse of latent protest music straight out of contemporary Africa - not to be missed!
