Posted: Apr, 6th 2015 Contributor: Bilen Shifferaw,

aid of Anti-Slavery Day 2014, IOM UK will once again lead a consortium of committed partner organisations – Migrant Help, IJM, House of Beth, Stronger Together, Nutmeg, St Marys, Grande Visionaries, Stop the Traffic and The Human Trafficking Foundation – in the acclaimed ethical trading event, Fashioned for Freedom, to highlight the different forms of trafficking and to promote brands who strive to ensure their production line is free of forced labour.

Please see the link to the promo film from 2011, defining what the evening is about.

Fashioned for Freedom takes place in Marylebone, London and will consist of a fashion show promoting top ethical fashion brands who are committed to a slavery-free production line.

Fashion houses Beulah London, People Tree, Zoe Boomer, Nancy Dee, Mayamiko, Betty & Betts, Fikay and Brothers We Stand will take part, followed by a performance by the contemporary dance company, The Natashas’ Project, interpreting the struggles of modern slaves today.

With guest DJ Joe Ray, of Nero (2012 UK number 1 album, Welcome Reality) and returning presenters Angela Buttolph, (Grazia) and Hollywood actor David Gyasi, (The Dark Knight Rises, Cloud Atlas, Interstellar) in addition to various special guests, Fashioned for Freedom 2014 is set to be bigger than ever!

"I think the first event was the perfect balance of awesome fashion, cool bands... and mind blowing statistics highlighting a very important global issue. I have faith that some grassroots initiatives will be kicked off after Fashioned for Freedom, and I'm very proud to have been involved", Angela Buttolph, editor of graziadaily.co.uk.

“Really enjoyable event for a very worthwhile cause.” – Sam Clafin, (The Hunger Games, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Riot Club).

For this years’ event, all proceeds will be donated to the rescue of 20 children in Ghana, early 2015. IOM Accra is working with USAIM/Global Grandparenting/BTCTE in the USA to coordinate the rescue and recovery of children in Ghana; for more, please see the links at the end of this message.

To give you an understanding of the current status of this issue and its impact in various industries, IOM and Migrant Help have produced this short video.
