Empower the Community Weekend is an all-day family-friendly event that brings together the largest East African community in the Washington DC metropolitan area. Focused on helping people to thrive and to live a productive life, the event provides empowering panel discussions and resourceful workshops from industry movers and shakers.

The event is filled with Exhibitors showcasing their products and services, Career Pavilion with hiring events & recruiting resources, Kids and Youth Pavilion with fun-filled activities, games, college prep and internship resources, and a networking mixer. 

ECW was launched by the producers of the Helen show on EBS TV in 2017. The 2nd annual event was a great success bringing together over 2,200 people from the Washington, DC metro area and beyond.
