Posted: Jun, 24th 2015 Contributor: Bilen Shifferaw,

Come and take a day trip to Burkina Faso, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa as well as catching a glimpse of Peckham Rye and Hackney Fields where you will meet writers, electricians, wise women and children that dream of flying. The Horniman presents a programme of films for young and old alike, directed by young up and coming directors with a focus on female directors. A day of contemporary short films and documentaries from Africa and the Diaspora, curated by Suzy Gillett.

This July and August, the Horniman will play host to live music, photography, museum displays, film and dance – including carnival parades and Afro-jazz picnics, as well as African inspired family favourites such as arts and crafts, object-handling and storytelling.
