DJ set 7inch Vintage Vinyl only of the rarest and finest Afrobeat, Funky Highlife and Afro Funk. The discussion will focus on DJ Frank Gossner’s recent travels to unearth the most important music of west Africa post independence of the 60s and 70s and the historically cultural importance of hence the need to preserve the vinyl as a heritage of Africa and examining the conditions affecting this happening. Altogether, DJ Frank Gossner, has organised reissues of a couple of dozen African albums. Any money the label is willing to pay goes back to the original artists, most of whom stopped performing long ago.

DIRECTION AFRICA is unique and exciting contemporary cultural event combining visionary African music, arts and films creating a multi-media discourse between a cross-generational group of invited artists and creative’s exclusively curated by AFRI-KOKOA. It has previously featured Yinka Shonibare MBE , David Adjaye OBE, Larry Achimpong, Rungano Nyoni, M3NSA and Wanlov and Dele Fatunla. It is a contemporary cultural forum for like minded people who are interested in the different ways of looking at Africa and its influence, diasporas and future thinking. Speakers introduce new ideas and concepts, welcome criticism along with the opportunity to be questioned by an interested audience, this forms the driving force behind Direction Africa. DA celebrates the continent’s culture at a time when there is greater focus on Africa than ever before.
