Ethiopian cookery class with Woin (Vegan) At The Dusty Knuckle

Posted: Aug, 5th 2019 Contributor: Bilen Shifferaw,

Learn the secrets to cooking a range of vegan-friendly Ethiopian dishes, followed by a sit-down dinner with Woin!

This is a family-style cookery class where the group collectively prepares several dishes. The chef will divide the class into groups with each one responsible for creating 1 or 2 of the dishes. Each participant is free to move from one recipe to the next throughout the evening so that everyone can get a sense for all of the dishes.

Organised by Migrateful

Migrateful is a cookery and language initiative where asylum seekers, refugees and migrants struggling to access employment in the UK due to legal and linguistic barriers, teach their traditional cuisines to the public.

What to expect

During a Migrateful cookery class, you will work within your group to prepare dishes to be served family-style. Some dishes are prepared by the chef and demonstrated to you while some dishes will have you preparing it from beginning to end, while learning our chef’s authentic techniques from their home country. Our classes appeal to those interested in learning international recipes, practising a different language and in meeting new people for a cultural exchange in an intimate home setting, as well as to those wishing to support migrants and refugees struggling to rebuild their lives.

Customers have reported: ‘It is an absolutely fantastic way to spend time with friends, meet new people, and learn about a culture and cooking in a cosy, well-equipped, fun and safe setting’.

Another told us the class was ‘an enriching way to spend an evening. Cooking and eating with new people, talking and learning about other lives, cuisines and cultures’.
