Ethiopian Meron Wudneh Wins Miss Africa USA 2014

Did you vote for Ethiopian model Meron Wudneh, we did and we are proud to announce that she has gone onto to win Miss Africa USA 2014. Meron went on to beat 18 contestants from around Africa at the finals held on Saturday 9th August at The Strathmore Theater Washington. 

Miss Africa USA Pageant is the biggest and the most publicized pageant that features African women in the United States of America today. The pageant has certainly transcended from a small State pageant  launched in Atlanta Georgia in 2005, to one of the most highly anticipated annual community events in the nation.

Winner Ethiopian beauty and youth advocate, Meron who is a resident of Montgomery County, Maryland, is a graduate of Bowie State University where she studied Health Sciences.

The event was hosted by African Celebrities Chris Atoh from Ghana and Helene Faussart from Cameroon.  The 18 delegates representing 18 African Nations competed in various categories including: Traditional African Girl, Parade of Nations, African Fashion, Public Speaking and Platform Presentation after which the top 10 were selected for Talent competition and further elimination brought the top 5 to stage for interviews after which the winner was elected by the Judges.

There were several Diplomats from various African Embassies.  The Event was graced by His Excellency Robert Van Lierop from the United Nations and Her Excellency Mrs Mulamula, Ambassador of Tanzania to the United States of America. Other Dignitaries present included Ms Iman Awald, Director of the Governor’ Commission on African Affairs for the State of Maryland, Officials from the DC Mayor’s Office, Ms Jan Duplain from Cultural DC, Ms Tee Thompson from African Trade Business Center, a host of visiting Queens and Title holders.
