Ethiopian Short Gerreta Wins International Short At The 9th River Film Festival

The 9th River Film Festival is an international festival of shorts (fiction and animations) and documentaries held in Padova Italy (28th May to 10th June 2015).

Shorts entered to the festival are required to be no more than 30 minutes long, extreme short must not be more than 5 minutes, a 100” short must not be more than 100 second not including titles, and documentaries must be no more than 30 minutes.

International short film category. "GERRETA" ግርታ (double meaning in Amharic- crowd and confusion) got jury award for best film in dynamic narrative structure, directing and editing. It has been selected  for the dynamic narrative construction, the direction and the alternating backwards/ forwards editing of the narrative that highlight the collective madness of acting without reflecting on the facts of what happened.

The awards were judges by Heinz Hermanns (Chairman), Tony Matteucci, Alessandro Davanzo, Lisa Parolo, Arianna Vietina and Richard Khoury.
