Arrow of God Symposium - 04.10.14

Posted: Apr, 7th 2015

The organisers of the Igbo Conference in association with CAS will host in the 'Arrow of God' Symposium, which marks the 50th anniversary of the  publication of Chinua Achebe’s novel, Arrow of God which Achebe described as 'the novel which I am most likely to be caught sitting down to read again.'

The symposium will create a space to reflect on the position of Arrow of God in the African literary corpus, the socio-historical significance of its publication in the year of Nigeria's 50th anniversary (1964) and the trajectories that can be drawn between Arrow of God and contemporary African history. The symposium will consist of plenary panels, readings from 'Arrow of God' and Igbo cultural performances.

Convened by Dr Kwadwo Osei-Nyame Jnr and Louisa Uchum Egbunike. Enquiries should be directed to Louisa Uchum Egbunike
